Joan planned a nice getaway for us to check out a bluegrass band called The Greencards. Based out of Nashville, the band made one stop in Oregon on their way to California and picked the Kahneeta resort, 90 minutes north of Bend, as their venue.

Kahneeta is quite nice. We had great weather and our room in the Lodge had a nice western view of the canyon wall.

The casino is pretty small and filled with gaming machines, but neither of us are big into casinos. I gambled a whopping $5 and ended down $1.50. Clearly I need to stick to the video poker at Double Happiness.

The resort also boasts a spring-warmed pool that was quiet on Friday afternoon and bustling on Saturday. Folks can hang out at the day-use area by the pool for just $5, a real bargain since swimming pools are in short supply in central Oregon.

It was a pleasant time and I’m looking forward to going back.
